Put a good face to the bad times. Be positive.”

Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking an amazing trip with my friend Ty Alexander of Gorgeous in Grey to Quintana Roo, Mexico with Parlour Magazine for their second #TravelFly Solo Weekend, “a female-focused, self-care inspired travel experience that is dedicated to whatever you wish your getaway to be!” – Parlour
It was midnight when my flight from LAX finally lifted off the tarmac. It was a fairly short flight from Los Angeles to Cancun, probably because I have been anticipating this trip for months. From Cancun, it was a 1-hour drive to our beautiful all-inclusive Riviera Maya hotel the UNICO 20°N 87°W.
UNICO gives guests the feeling of exclusivity and luxury with rich Mexican decor. My room, Alcoba Swim-up Pool, was everything I had imagined for a solo trip. The smallest details added to the earthy and rustic atmosphere that set the tone for my whole trip. After settling in I quickly changed into my swimsuit and headed to one of the three beautiful UNICO pools for some lunch.
I woke up to a warm Mexican sun gently shining through my curtains, perfect for a light breakfast in bed before strolling beach. Relaxing, even on vacations can be hard for me. I’m constantly working on something for the blog, or prepping for an audition, but this time there was no excuse. Mother nature took over with a typical tropical storm, perfect for long naps. I took the time during the storm to head to the spa for UNICO’s “Esencia Signature” massage treatment.
The rain finally stopped which created the perfect weather for heading to Playa del Carmen and do some touristy sight seeing and shopping. The shops at Playa del Carmen have some absolutely beautiful leather working and jewelry. You definitely feel like you’re surrounded by history, as soon as you step out of your cab the sites and smells all boast a flourishing Mexican ambiance.

The last Mexico was bittersweet, it was bright for most of the day with a few scattered showers. That definitely didn’t sour the mood at all because there are so many things to do at the UNICO hotel. Some favorites to keep guests pretty active such as meeting other vacationers, playing pool games and eating at the many restaurants. That night the trip was rounded out with a beautiful dinner at the renowned Gitano Tulum, an amazing mezcal restaurant deep in Tulum’s lush Mexican forest. The menu for the evening was full of flavor, and the drinks were perfectly paired with spices, sweet and sours to fill in the gaps between tapa orders.
Mexico is an amazing location to relax, revitalize, and get some good ole fashioned fun!
